Lower School AdventureScape Playground

Something Big Is Coming to the Lower School

Last October, we celebrated the first-ever campus wide Grandparents and Friends Day. More than 1,200 guests filled Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena surrounded by 1,100 Lipscomb Academy students. During the program, Head of School, Dr. Brad Schultz, presented renderings of an AdventureScape playground that we wanted to build at the lower school. He shared that one of our Lipscomb Academy grandparents had given a $200,000 gift toward the project and then proceeded to ask our grandparents to consider financially supporting this endeavor.

And our grandparents did not disappoint! After a mere 11 weeks, through the generous financial support of Lipscomb Academy grandparents, $450,000 was secured to proceed with a new grandparent-funded playground!

The news was announced to lower school students earlier this week through the PA system. As Dr. Brad Schultz was speaking, we heard cheers erupting from classrooms throughout the campus. There was much excitement from students as they remembered the playground discussion from Grandparents and Friends Day, and their celebration was captured on video.

Construction is scheduled to begin this summer and will be completed when the 2022-23 academic year begins. Thank you, grandparents! We invite you to be the first ones down the turbo twister slides when the playground opens.
