SEED School


Tiffany Chatfield, pre-K4 teaching assistant. Education: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, Northland International University. Previously, Chatfield served as a regular SEED substitute teacher. Originally from the midwest, she now calls Brentwood, Tennessee, home. Her background in elementary education fuels her passion for working with young kids, and she enjoys filling her cup with that joy. Her typical day involves a coffee in hand while she indulges in her hobbies, such as reading, spending time at the beach, playing the piano, working out, and listening to country music and podcasts. Chatfield and her husband, Nate, have four sweet girls, all attending the academy.

 

 


 


Emily Crawford, pre-K2 faculty. Education: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education,  Tennessee Technological University. Born in Nashville, Crawford lived in Clarksville until the age of nine before moving to East Tennessee. She previously taught third grade at Maryville Christian School in Maryville, Tennessee. Over the past six years, she has traveled to Israel, Egypt, and Brazil for mission work. Among these places, Israel holds a special place in her heart as the time spent there has brought scriptures to life in a whole new way and deepened her love for the land and its people. This past summer, Crawford had an incredible opportunity to serve as a missionary in Israel working with Holocaust survivors and new immigrants and be a part of a children's program. She and her family share a love for the Great Smoky Mountains and often spend quality time hiking together.

 

 


 


Patricia DeMore, kindergarten faculty. Education: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (K-8) with a special education endorsement, Lipscomb University. Originally from Schaumburg, Illinois, DeMore always wanted to be a teacher from a very young age as her mom was heavily involved in education as a school social worker. She has had experiences with general and special education in various classroom settings within the past five years, including as a paraprofessional at Schaumburg Community Consolidated School District 54, swim and head instructor at Elk Grove Pavilion Community Center in Elk Grove, Illinois, teacher’s assistant for Summer Academy at Vanderbilt for the Young (SAVY), and aid in the elementary extended day program at Lipscomb Academy. On her days out of the classroom, DeMore enjoys watching Gilmore Girls or coffee shop hopping around the city.

 

 


 

 

Blake Jackson, pre-K4 faculty. Education: Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Special Education (K-6), Lipscomb University. Jackson has completed several internships that have contributed to her background in education. She was an intern for a second-grade classroom in the spring of 2023. Following her time in second grade, she interned in a fifth- and sixth-grade behavior unit. During these internships, she wrote and delivered daily lesson plans and implemented a variety of differentiation strategies. Jackson was a youth intern at Otter Creek Church of Christ in the summer of 2021 where she organized and planned devotions, summer activities, and trips for the youth group.  

 

 



 

 

Angie Warren, SEED and lower school administrative assistant. Education: Bachelor of Business Administration Finance, Freed-Hardeman University. Warren has ten years experience working in insurance and finance at two different companies. Formerly, she taught preschool for the past five years at Crieve Hall Church of Christ. Warren previously served as the PTA president and treasurer for a Metro Nashville Public School.

 

 

 


 

Solly School


Billy Clayton, paraprofessional. Education: Bachelor of Science, Elementary Education, Lipscomb University. Clayton worked in health care as a pediatric nurse technician in Atlanta for three years after college. In 2015, he and his wife, Katy, moved back to Nashville where he began working as a grocery clerk and musician. They have two children, Liam and Lily Jo, and a dog, Cassius. In quiet moments, Clayton likes to wonder at all the ways music surrounds us and dreams of what it must be like to be a scratch golfer. 

 

 


 


Drew McCullom, paraprofessional. Education: Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, Freed-Hardeman University. A Lipscomb Lifer, McCullom has served most recently as a Lipscomb Academy substitute teacher and Extended Day staff. Previously, he served as the youth minister-in-residence with the Graymere church of Christ in Columbia, Tennessee. Besides his passion for serving and guiding the youth, McCullom loves everything about the Spanish language and Latin American culture, having spent a summer in Honduras as a volunteer at a boys’ home. Additionally, he desires to continue traveling the world with the dream of someday living in South America.

 

 

 

 


 


 

Tori Schow, paraprofessional. Education: Bachelor of Science in Meteorology, Western Kentucky University; Master of Science in Early Childhood Services, Arkansas State University. Most recently, Schow has worked as a registered behavior technician assisting children with autism and has experience working in early childhood education. She has lived in Nashville her entire life and attended Lipscomb Academy from elementary through high school. In her free time, Schow enjoys watching sports and vegetable gardening. 

 

 

 


 


Shelby Shepherd, paraprofessional. Education: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, University of Tennessee; Master of Business Administration, Lipscomb University. For several years, Shepherd stayed home raising her three daughters. During that time, she volunteered weekly in the preschool ministry at Brentwood Baptist Church and discovered a love for working with children and serving their families. In 2018, she began teaching a preschool class at Brentwood Baptist Young Children’s School two days a week. She and her husband, Benny, are Nashville natives. Their three daughters all attend Lipscomb Academy Upper School. In her free time she enjoys long walks, quiet mornings, cooking, and spending time at home with her family and two dogs.

 

 


 

Lower School

 

 

 

Hannah Barker, second-grade faculty. Education: Bachelor of Science in Child Growth and Learning (K-5 Education), Cumberland University; Master of Education in Literacy, Clemson University. Barker has five years of teaching experience in both the private and public school settings. She is married to Matthew, and they have two dogs, Wrigley and Doodle. She loves to read and go on walks with Matthew and her dogs.

 

 

 


 


Micah Bural, third-grade faculty. Education: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (K-5), Lipscomb University. Micah is an upbeat teacher devoted to promoting student learning and enhancing individual potential. She is skillful in directing classroom environments and enhancing student behavior through positive approaches. She creates pairs caring relationships with a positive attitude and good decision-making skills.

 

 


 


Sheri Daniel, SEED and lower school administrative assistant. Education: Harding University. Hailing from Texas, Daniel moved to Tennessee in 1983. She has a love for law enforcement, and in her spare time, she volunteers with the Franklin Police Department. For the past five years, Daniel has also served on the board for the Franklin Police Department’s non-profit Law Enforcement Assistance Partnership. Additionally, she serves on the board of the Junior Auxiliary of Franklin, a non-profit serving women and children. Daniel and her husband, Brad, have lived in Franklin for 25 years and have a daughter, Faith, who will be in the fifth grade this fall. They attend Hillsboro Church of Christ. Her other loves include the beach, decorating, Mexican food, and chocolate ice cream! 

 

 


 


Cat Duke, SEED and lower school campus minister. Education: Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Ministry, Master of Divinity, Lipscomb University. Duke has worked in student ministry at both Hillsboro Church of Christ and Otter Creek Church of Christ, as well as a summer in Wuhan, China. A native of Cookeville, Tennessee, she has been in Nashville since her freshman year at Lipscomb University in 2016. Duke is married to Miller, an alumnus of Lipscomb Academy, and they have two dogs. She enjoys reading and running, and in her free time, she can be found taking a nap, eating Mexican food, or helping Miller with his backyard garden. She is looking forward to forming new relationships and getting to pour into the Lipscomb community, loving and teaching students well. 

 

 


 


 

 

Brittany Gilbert, SEED and lower school counselor. Education: Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Middle Tennessee State University; December 2023 candidate for Master of Education in School Counseling, Lipscomb University. Gilbert currently coaches a competitive cheerleading team and enjoys attending concerts and traveling. Her goal is to foster an uplifting and supportive environment where students feel a sense of belonging and ownership of their social, emotional, educational, and spiritual growth.

 

 

 

 


 

 

 

Sydney Jones, third-grade faculty. Education: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, University of Tennessee-Knoxville; Master of Arts in Teaching, Relay Graduate School of Education; Interventionist and English as a Second Language Teacher endorsement, Trevecca Nazarene University. Previously, Jones taught fourth grade in a Nashville charter school for two years. Her goal is to create a safe, active, and loving learning environment. 



 


 


Lorri Mast, fourth grade ELA teacher. Education: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, Master of Education in Administration and Supervision with an administration endorsement, Trevecca Nazarene University. Mast has served as an educator for 23 years in public and private schools. She has served as a classroom teacher, instructional specialist, literacy coach, and assistant principal. Mast is returning to Lipscomb Academy after serving as a teacher for the last three years at a private Christian school in Florida. She is married to Dr. Brian Mast, and they have two children, Ella and Eli. The Masts enjoy traveling and attending sporting events together. 

 

 

 


 


Julia Matthews, fourth grade ELA teacher. Education: Bachelor of Arts in History, Centre College; Master of Science in Education, Johns Hopkins University School of Education. With a career decision in mind before beginning high school at Harpeth Hall, Matthews knew she wanted to be a teacher. She began teaching four years ago in Washington, D.C., as an eighth-grade teacher while attending her graduate school program at Johns Hopkins University. Most recently, she taught in Rutherford County Schools. Matthews has experience as both a general education and special education teacher. She strives to create lasting student-teacher relationships that allow all of her students to reach their fullest potential. 

 

 


 


 

Jennifer Mineo, teaching assistant. Education: Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication, Middle Tennessee State University. While raising her two daughters with her husband, Tony, Mineo owned businesses in the transportation and food and beverage industries. She enjoys cooking and serving underprivileged children in the Nashville area. 





 

 


 


Vanessa McAfee, academic support student success coordinator and reading interventionist. Education: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education K-8, Lipscomb University; English Language Learning endorsement. McAfee joins the Lipscomb team as a former educator in Metro Nashville Public School’s Crieve Hall Elementary for 22 years from where she taught kindergarten. She has previous experience working closely with students with exceptional needs and coordinating support team meetings. Her goal is to create engaging, student-centered learning experiences with an academic environment that fosters creativity, curiosity, and kindness.

 

 


 


Anna Parrish, part-time academic success lower school testing coordinator. Education: Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Teaching, Lipscomb University; English as a Second Language Teacher endorsement. Parrish taught middle school Spanish in Brentwood, Tennessee, for five years and now tutors high school Spanish and English, as well as middle school general studies.

Jennifer Wayman, fifth-grade faculty. Education: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education K-8, Lipscomb University; Master of Education in Administration and Supervision, Middle Tennessee State University. This will be Wayman’s 16th year in education having taught ages 15 months to sixth grade. She is a Nashville native and attended Lipscomb from sixth grade through college. Wayman and her husband, Christopher, are members of Ethos Church. They have three children, Hayes, Nora, and Quinn. She is excited to be back where her educational journey began!

 

 


 

Middle School


 

 

Shelli Walker, middle school counselor. Education: Bachelor of Arts in Social Work, Colorado State University. Walker spent her adult life in Colorado. She and her husband, Derek, worked heavily in youth ministry at their congregation in Colorado. Her connection with Lipscomb began when her oldest son, Adam, attended the university, and they noticed their son was meeting some amazing college friends, all of which were Lipscomb Academy alumni. The family saw an opportunity to move to Nashville and transition to the Lipscomb community. Walker has been working at the Lipscomb Family Therapy Center for the last five years. She and her husband are members of Harpeth Hills Church of Christ. 

 

 

 


 

Upper School


John Boshers, Bible faculty. Education: Bachelor of Arts in History, University of Tennessee Knoxville. Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Boshers has had the opportunity to use his minor degree in Religious Studies over the past three summers serving in youth ministry roles. These roles have instilled a passion for building impactful relationships with students and creating opportunities for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ to take root. He is excited to move back to Nashville and hopes to create introductions and encounters for his students with the Lord through the powerful word of God. 

 

 

 


 


 

Rachel Dunaway, English faculty. Education: Bachelor of Arts in English, Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). Having started teaching English as a graduate student at MTSU and then teaching high school English at Donelson Christian Academy for the last 10 years, Dunaway is committed to preparing students for college and purposeful leadership. With this passion for student leadership, she previously developed and directed a high school writing center which she then transformed into an inter-disciplinary peer tutoring program. Dunaway has also served as a department chair for the previous two years. She is thrilled to join the upper school and aims to create a supportive environment where students can achieve their academic and personal goals.

 

 

 


 

Amie Jackson, administrative assistant. Education: Bachelor of Science in Family Studies, Lipscomb University. As a Lipscomb lifer, Jackson has a strong passion for Lipscomb and a genuine interest in the well-being of its students and families. She is eager to utilize her skills to foster a positive and supportive environment within the Lipscomb family. Jackson and her husband, Tom, are originally from Nashville but have moved often in their married life, returning to Nashville in 2019. They have two daughters at the academy, senior Caroline and sophomore Charlotte. The Jacksons are active members at Brentwood Hills Church of Christ.  

 

 


 


 

Tessie Lynch, math faculty. Education: Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, Rutgers University; Master of Business Administration, Georgetown University; graduate work in secondary education, George Mason University. In addition to five years of classroom teaching in upper school math and several years of working with students in child development, Lynch has a strong background in Finance. She is committed to sharing her joy for math and its many life applications by nurturing the God-given gifts of each child and supporting their unique learning style.

 

 

 


 


Tabitha Newman, chemistry faculty. Education: Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology, Master of Science in Biomolecular Science, Lipscomb University. Always a science nerd, Newman has a passion for science. For the past three years, she has enjoyed conducting research with Zebrafish. While a graduate student, she taught an undergraduate lab at Lipscomb University and found a passion for being able to share with others one of the most prominent places where she witnessed God in her daily life. For the past year, Newman has been a tutor for academic support. She is looking forward to sharing her love of science with students in a classroom.

 

 



 

Sidney Sheppard, mathematics faculty. Education: Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Master of Arts in Secondary Education (6-12), University of Alabama. Since moving to Nashville, Sheppard has acquired two years of teaching experience. She is passionate about making mathematics accessible to all, and she enjoys using the subject as a tool to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. Sheppard is proficient in curating engaging lessons that use multiple representations and real-world applications, encouraging students to find the connections between mathematical concepts and understand their relationships to the world beyond. She is excited to join Lipscomb Academy and become a member of a learning community that cultivates excellence in its students, families, and staff.

 

 


 

Fine Arts

 


 

Renee Marsden, sixth grade dance faculty. Marsden has been both teaching and working professionally as a dancer and choreographer since 2004. She has had a professional career as a dancer, actress, singer, choreographer, and tv host. Marsden has danced on tour with Taylor Swift, for CMT music videos, as a NHL Nashville Predators cheerleader, as a ballroom dancer and co-choreographer for Vampire Diaries, on a Tyler Perry film, for the CMA awards, as lead roles in musicals, and as a choreographer for multiple musicals. She is a studied company and professional dancer in styles, including jazz, ballroom, broadway jazz, hip hop, ballet, contemporary/lyrical, tap, worship, and some training in African dance. Marsden fell in love with the arts at a young age and wants to foster that same love of the arts in her students. For her, dance has instilled confidence, a strong work ethic, and teamwork mentality, as well as being a creative outlet for personal expression and growth.

 

 


 


Kim Overstreet, grades 6-12 director of theater faculty. Education: Double Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts and Music Business, Trevecca Nazarene University; Master of Music in Vocal Pedagogy with emphasis in musical theater, Belmont University. Overstreet is a Nashville native and has worked there as a theater director, educator, and choreographer since 2011. Over the past twelve years, she has directed the middle school theater program at Franklin Road Academy, founded and directed an award-winning show choir at Mt. Juliet Christian Academy, and served as the upper school theater and choral director at Mt. Juliet Christian Academy where she received Teacher of the Year in 2021. Her productions have been a top five nominee for numerous Spotlight Awards and won for Outstanding Direction in 2023 (The Drowsy Chaperone) and 2018 (Singing in the Rain), Outstanding Choreography in 2023 (The Drowsy Chaperone) and 2019 (Guys and Dolls), and Outstanding Musical in 2019 (Guys and Dolls). She is active within her church and enjoys working with the youth in the Chinese church on Sundays. 

 

 


 


 

Dillan Todd, grades 6-12 theater faculty. Education: Bachelor of Science in Youth and Family Ministry, Freed-Hardeman University. A middle Tennessee native and theater minor, Todd has worked as the children’s minister at the Lebanon Road church of Christ in Donelson, Tennessee, since graduating from college. His desire to work in the theatrical world, along with the impact theater had on his life, drove him to help young people find that same fire. His goal is to create a safe environment for young people to be creative, show their talents, tell a story, and take chances. He enjoys being outdoors, hiking, training for races, and spending time with his dog, Zo.


 

 


 

Administration


Julie Rice, assistant head of lower school. Education: Bachelor of Arts in English and Education, Freed-Hardeman University; Master of Education in Administration and Supervision, Middle Tennessee State University. Rice joins the Lipscomb team after serving 14 years in Hickman County Schools. She has five years of experience in administration and has taught adjunct for Freed-Hardeman University. Her goal is to help create a productive learning environment that is Christ-centered, student-focused, teacher-supported, spiritually-based, and achieves a high level of expectation and rigor. Rice has been married to her husband, Orrie, for six years, and they have a two-year-old son, Graham. She is excited for the opportunity to work with teachers, students, and parents, as the team journeys together building a concrete level of academics for the students’ progression and spiritual future.

 

 


 

Athletics


Josh Lumpkin, athletic trainer. Education: Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training, Middle Tennessee State University; Master of Recreation and Sports Administration, Western Kentucky University; certified by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainers of Tennessee. A Nashville native, Lumpkin previously served four years as the head athletic trainer at Jo Byrns High School in Cedar Hill, Tennessee. He attended Goodpasture High School where he was an active student-athlete and played football, basketball, and soccer. Lumpkin has been a member of the Madison Church of Christ since he was a child and currently is a part of the praise team.


 

 



Tyler Webb, assistant middle school athletic director, director of middle school spiritual formation, and lower school athletics coordinator. Education: Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, Lipscomb University. In addition to starting his fourth season as the fifth- and sixth-grade football coach, Webb launched the trap program this past spring. Currently, he is also an assistant on the middle school and ninth-grade football teams. Webb is from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where he attended Middle Tennessee Christian School and played football, baseball, basketball, and trap. When he graduated in May 2023, he was named Most Outstanding Kinesiology Major. Webb and his wife, Ella, reside in Green Hills and attend Ethos Church. 

 

 


 

Lipscomb Academy (general staff positions)


Whitney Cadavid, co-director of cheer and marketing team assistant. Education: Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences, Lipscomb University. Cadavid is a seasoned business leader and passionate cheer coach with over a decade of experience in the fields of business management, coaching, and marketing. From 2010-2018, she served as a regional director for a boutique in Nashville, where she opened multiple new store locations across the southeast. Her role included tasks hiring, team-building, buying, social media management, and overall business branding, but her heart has always been rooted in athletics. Cheering in high school and college while also competing with a local all-star cheer gym and coaching fifth- and sixth-grade cheer at Goodpasture Christian School, Cadavid later brought her leadership skills and passion for cheer to Cheermoore Athletics. There she served as gym manager and competition coach for several high school teams and Belmont University. In recent years, she has balanced raising her children at home while operating her own photography business. In 2020, she returned to her cheer roots as a cheer coach for the academy and in 2022, as coach of the Lipscomb University cheer team. She and her husband, Branden, Lipscomb Academy assistant baseball coach, have three children: Greyson (7), Leo (5), and Callyn Joy (1), with Greyson and Leo attending the academy. In her free time, she enjoys visiting the beach with family, watching academy baseball, or creating with her camera in hand. Above all, she is most excited to continue to find ways to glorify the Lord through pouring into the cheer program and marketing efforts at Lipscomb.

 

 


 


Audrey Confer, academic support tutoring and billing coordinator. Education: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, University of Southern Mississippi. Born and raised in Nashville, Confer attended Ezell-Harding Christian School. She has taught locally in Rutherford County and Metro Nashville Public Schools. She enjoys interacting with students and parents to make their school experience the best it can be. Confer and her husband, Denver, have four children. Their twin boys have attended Lipscomb Academy Middle School for two years and have absolutely loved it! 

 

 


 


Madeleine Enos, part-time tutor. Education: Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology/Biomolecular Science with double minor in chemistry and biomedical physic, Lipscomb University. A native of College Grove, Tennessee, Enos participated in undergraduate laboratory research at both Pepperdine University and Lipscomb, and she hopes to continue pursuing research at Vanderbilt University this upcoming year.

 

 

 


 


Michelle Freeman, experiential learning coordinator. Education: Bachelor of Arts in International Studies, Master of Business Administration in International Business, Harding University; Education Specialist in Instructional Leadership, Union University; French Education State of Tennessee Endorsement K-12; doctoral candidate with a 2024 expected completion date. Previously, Freeman spent the last seven years teaching at Goodpasture Christian School where she led the Teacher Mentorship Program and taught both French World Language levels 1-4 and Intro to Business, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship. She and her husband, Eric, have ten-year-old twins, John Henry and Vivian, who will begin this fall at the academy. As experiential learning coordinator, Freeman will focus on providing career-focused personalized and customized learning experiences for students enrolled in Paths of Distinction, Ignite, and internship programs. 

 

 


 


Megan Guzman, part-time tutor. Education: Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology, Master of Science in Biomolecular Sciences, Lipscomb University. Guzman will be joining the academy as a part-time tutor for the upper school. Her ultimate career goal is to become a physician in order to improve healthcare through language accessibility.




 

 


 


Lisa Hutson, full-time tutor. Education: Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, University of Chicago; Master of Education in Secondary Math Education, Vanderbilt University. Hutson tutors students in all math classes, including middle school math, algebra I and II, geometry, AP statistics, AP calculus, biology, biology II, Spanish, and English. Before joining the Academic Support program as a part-time tutor in 2016, Hutson taught high school math for a decade at prestigious private high schools around the country–most recently at the University School of Nashville. She emphasizes problem-solving skills and conceptual understanding, which lead to computational fluency. She is also active in mission work and her church community.

 

 


 


Kristin Trammell, part-time tutor and math faculty. Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, University of Mississippi. Trammell tutors students in most math classes, including middle school math, algebra I, II, III, and trigonometry. Previously, her teaching experience began in infant swim rescue and led to substitute teaching followed by teaching sixth-grade math at Franklin Road Academy. As a military spouse and mother of three, her faith has guided her through the joys and challenges of family life. With her expertise, passion for teaching, and Christian principles, Trammell is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of her students. 

 

 


 


Leah Jacob, part-time tutor. Education: May 2025 candidate for Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a minor in Physics and Mathematics, Lipscomb University. She graduated from Ravenwood High School and has prior teaching experience ranging from high school level courses to collegiate level private tutoring in biology, chemistry and physics.



 

 


 


Jessi Seaton, middle and upper school academic support student success coordinator. Education: Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Lipscomb University; Master of Marriage and Family Counseling, Trevecca Nazarene University. Seaton has worked as a behavioral therapist for children with autism, a marriage and family counselor, and an associate center director at Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes in Dallas, Texas. Most recently, she served as student success coordinator in the Academic Support department at Lipscomb Academy Lower School. Seaton has worked with students with ADHD, dyslexia, autism spectrum disorders, receptive and expressive language delays, and general learning challenges. With her background of working with children of typical and different learning abilities, paired with her counseling experience, she brings a unique perspective to helping each child succeed to the best of his or her abilities. Other interests include photography, learning piano, and family walks around the neighborhood with their two dogs. Seaton and her husband, Ryan, have two children, Ella and Jack, currently enrolled in the lower school. They are active members at Harpeth Hills Church of Christ.

 

 


 


Allison Shaw, online and media coordinator. Education: Bachelor of Arts in English, Sacramento State University; Master of Library and Information Science, San Jose State University. Shaw comes to Lipscomb after 20 years’ experience with libraries; curriculum development; and professional, continuing, and online education with the Sacramento State College of Continuing Education and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. She looks forward to supporting students through online learning and terrific books. Newer to Nashville, the Shaw family enjoys the Tennessee seasons; access to great music, theater, and sports; and exploring tasty restaurants. Team Shaw has three teenagers attending Lipscomb Academy.

Laura Alsup, SEED School teaching assistant. Education: Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Services, Lipscomb University. In 2018, Alsup started her journey at Lipscomb Academy as a teaching assistant in the SEED school. This is where she discovered her passion for early childhood education. After a year, she moved to the role of office administrative assistant, dedicating herself to the smooth functioning of the SEED and lower schools. Realizing how much she missed the daily interaction with children, this fall Alsup returns to the SEED school. Alongside her unwavering commitment to education, she finds immense joy and fulfillment in her roles as a wife to her loving husband, Hunter, and a devoted mother to her two delightful daughters, Ella Tate (14) and Lillian (10). Beyond the walls of the school, she embraces nature's wonders through her love for the outdoors and seeks new adventures by exploring various destinations through her travels. Alsup’s genuine love for working with children and her enthusiasm for life make her an inspiring presence in our Lipscomb Academy community.

 


 


Heather Brandt, academic support reading interventionist. Education: Bachelor of Science, Master of Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Endorsement, Samford University. Brandt has been teaching for 22 years. Lipscomb has always been a special place for her as she attended David Lipscomb Campus school starting in second grade. She started her teaching career as a second grade teacher at Pegram Elementary in Cheatham County. She took a year off from the school setting and worked at Bowie Reading and Learning Center teaching individual students using the Wilson Reading System. She also served as a reading specialist and classroom teacher in Metro Nashville Public Schools before coming to Lipscomb Academy. She taught kindergarten for 12 years at Lipscomb before moving to the academic support program. Brandt is married to Bill, and they have two children, Hagen and Lizzy. As a family, they love going to the beach and watching sports together.

 


 


Kate Jeans, assistant head of SEED School. Education: Bachelor of Arts in History and Politics, University of Sunderland (UK); Master of Education in Instructional Practice, Lipscomb University; licensure in K-5 with an Early Childhood Specialist endorsement preK-3. Having previously taught for five years at Lipscomb Academy in grades PK3 and kindergarten and served with academic support, Jeans reaffirms her unwavering commitment to serve and support students in their educational journey at Lipscomb Academy. Her expertise lies in academics and curriculum development with a deep-rooted passion for early childhood education. Jeans has much experience working with the Wilson Dyslexia program and possesses a strong interest in reading instruction. She is thrilled to return to the SEED School and aims to foster a nurturing environment that empowers students to thrive and excel.

 

 



Lindsay Story, SEED and lower school instructional coach. Education: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, Middle Tennessee State University; Master of Education in Instructional Coaching, Lipscomb University. Story has been teaching for 16 years having started her career in Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) teaching third grade at Warner Enhanced Option Elementary School. The next 11 years of her career continued at Ruby Major Elementary, teaching fourth grade for eight years and first grade for three years. During her tenure at MNPS, she was chosen as Ruby Major Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2015. In 2019, she moved to Lipscomb Academy where she has taught first, second, and fourth grades. Story is married to Josh, and they have two daughters, Hailey and Avery. Story also serves as the assistant softball coach alongside her husband, who serves as the academy's head softball coach. Story and her family enjoy spending time at the softball field and summer vacations at the beach.

 


 


 

Dana Woodard, reading interventionist middle school. Education: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, Master of Education in Reading Speciality, Lipscomb University. With a career spanning 30 years, Woodard is transitioning from her role as a classroom teacher to reading interventionist. An experienced educator, she is looking forward to leveraging her extensive background to make a significant impact on students’ reading abilities and foster a love for learning.
