Triathlon Competitor and Community Leader to Lead Swim Team

AMANDA PRICE

Lipscomb Academy announced the appointment of Eric House as head swim coach. Coach House, a manager on the Enterprise Risk Management and Business Continuity Planning team at HCA Healthcare, coached high school and collegiate baseball athletes for nearly a decade. No stranger to Lipscomb Academy, Coach House spent one year as the academy’s assistant baseball coach (2015-16) prior to joining HCA Healthcare.

A consummate athlete, for the past three years, House has competed in open water swims in conjunction with sprint triathlons. As a youth, he was a club swimmer for six years and swam competitively year round with Excel Aquatics for one year.

Coach Eric House and his family are immersed in Lipscomb Academy. He understands our school mission and goals for student-athletes both in and out of the pool,” stated Michelle York, associate head of school for athletics. “We are thrilled to have the addition of Coach House, and our swim team will be blessed by his holistic approach to coaching and leading. He has a deep respect for our community, a heart to serve student-athletes, and an innate desire to contribute to the cultivation of a firm faith in our players.”

House served as director of baseball operations for Belmont University, assistant baseball coach at East Mississippi Community College, volunteer assistant baseball coach at Troy University, and graduate assistant baseball coach at Trevecca Nazarene University.

After leaving coaching five years ago, I was excited for the opportunity presented by Lipscomb Academy to pour into these student-athletes,” stated House. “Building relationships with student-athletes was the piece I truly missed after leaving coaching. I am blessed to have the chance to build those relationships again.”

House earned a Bachelor in Business Marketing and Master of Business Administration, both from Trevecca Nazarene University. He and his wife, Lipscomb Academy head volleyball coach Jake House, have two young daughters.
