As the 2021-22 academic year approaches the final quarter, Lipscomb Academy is proud to announce student academic accomplishments for the Class of 2022. For these seniors, this is the culmination of their hard work. The academy salutes the entire Class of 2022 for its dedication and perseverance and looks forward to welcoming them back as alumni of Lipscomb Academy.
The valedictorian of Lipscomb Academy is the student who earns an Honors Diploma and has the highest cumulative numerical average for all courses taken in high school. Ireland Plunkett has been named the valedictorian for the Class of 2022.
Ireland has a 4.0 GPA, took seven AP courses while a student at the academy, is an AP Scholar and has been a member of the National Honors Society since her junior year. She is a member of Ignite participating in STEM, Leadership & Public Service, and Health Sciences. In 2021, she helped relaunch the Pony Express, the academy’s student-lead newspaper.
The salutatorian of Lipscomb Academy is the student who earns an Honors Diploma and has the second-highest cumulative numerical average for all courses taken in high school. Karley Cromwell has been named the salutatorian for the Class of 2022.
Karley took six AP courses while a student at the academy, is an AP Scholar with Honors, was dual enrolled at Lipscomb University, and is treasurer for the National Honors Society. She is a member of Ignite participating in STEM and Health Sciences. She is a member of Mock Trial, Mu Alpha Theta, and Spanish Club. She is a staff writer for the Pony Express, the academy’s student-lead newspaper.
National Merit Finalists
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has named Bailey Liddle and Cole Welch as National Merit Finalists. Bailey and Cole are now being considered for one of the 7,500 Merit Scholarships available through the corporation. Becoming a National Merit Finalist is one of the highest academic honors that a student can achieve.
Andrew Hagelgans, Luke Paul, and Ireland Plunkett were named as Commended Students by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation thanks to their outstanding performance on the PSAT. Of the millions who take the PSAT every year, approximately 34,000 students nationwide are commended for their exceptional academic promise.
Perfect Composite on the ACT
Emma Weber earned a composite score of 36 on the ACT, the highest score possible. Emma's score ranks in the top 99th percentile of all students who take the ACT exam.
The Lipscomb Academy Academic Honors Diploma is designed to honor graduates who have chosen to take a more challenging course of study and have excelled academically in the process. Students who receive this honor have earned a 3.5 Lipscomb Academy GPA and have taken at least 12 advanced courses including honors, dual enrollment, and Advanced Placement (AP) with at least four of these courses being AP.
