Tux and Drape
Tips for your Tux and Drape Photos:
- Keep a Positive Mindset: Not everyone enjoys having their photo taken, it’s normal! However, your formal senior session can be really fun! Think of it this way: You are doing something nice for the people who have always supported you. So, come in with a great attitude and a big smile! Don’t worry, we will give you several options so you can choose a serious pose for the yearbook if you like. Just don’t forget to smile for your mom. Parents love to remember you at your happiest.
- Take Care of That Hair: Try to avoid a fresh haircut or color immediately before your session unless you trust your stylist immensely. A haircut or color the day of the session might be too big of a surprise or a change. If you aren’t sure how to style your hair, make sure to ask for help from a stylist, a friend or your mom. Don’t forget to check your eyebrows and give them a quick shape up too!
- Mind your Sun Exposure: The week before your session, plan for limited sun exposure. If you have to be outside for an extended period, wear a hat and sunscreen. You don’t want to come to your senior photos sunburned, peeling, or uncomfortable.
- Take Good Care of Yourself: Remember that sleeping, hydration, exercise and regular face washing are great for your skin. Do what you can to take great care of yourself. When you feel good, you look good. In the unlucky case you happen to have a break out on the day of the session, have no fear. We do touch up the images you purchase as well as the image that goes into the yearbook. We’ve got your back!
- Avoid Glare from your Glasses: During your photo session, you might be asked to slip off your glasses for a few images to avoid glass glare. If you truly prefer wearing your glasses for the whole session, try bringing a similar pair of glasses with the lenses popped out. You might try asking your eye doctor for a similar loaner pair without lenses.
- We provide the Tux and Drape: Don’t worry, LA Photo Studio provides the tuxedo and the black velvet drape. For the tux, you must wear a white T-shirt for the undershirt. For the drape, consider wearing a black spaghetti strapped tank or strapless bra to go underneath. Your final look will be strapless, so please don’t plan on wearing a sports bra, but rather something that has shoulder straps that slip easily over your shoulders. Wear whatever shorts or pants you’d like. They won’t show at all. Think 2020 newscaster working from home here.
- Please arrive early: Your session is only 15 minutes long, but we need to start photographing at the onset of your session. If your chosen time is 1:30-1:45 and you arrive to get changed at 1:30, we will be rushing through your session. Please come at least 15 minutes early. As Mr. King always says, “If you’re early, you’re on time. If you’re on time, you’re late.” We would like to keep your day moving as smoothly as possible. Thank you for helping this run smoothly!
Tux and Drape Portrait Tips for GIRLS:
-
UNDERGARMENTS The drape gives a formal off the shoulder dress appearance. Please consider a strapless bra or spaghetti strapped shirt that can be moved off your shoulders for the portrait session.
-
MAKEUP Makeup should be natural to only slightly heavier than normal. Mascara should be clean and contain no clumps. NOTE…we will retouch any images that you order or choose for the yearbook… so please do not worry if you have skin imperfections.
-
HAIR Avoid changing your hairstyle or cutting your hair right before your session. Bring any hair care tools and products with you for a touch up before your session. Please, please, DO NOT put glitter in your hair or on your skin!!!
-
JEWELRY Simple is best. An elegant string of pearls or a simple necklace and earrings will look wonderful. Jewelry that is large or bold may be distracting.
Tux and Drape Portrait Tips for GUYS:
-
CLOTHING Please wear a plain white tee shirt to be worn under your tuxedo shirt.
-
SHAVING Please make sure you are clean shaven.
-
SKIN We will retouch any images that you order or choose for the yearbook… so please do not worry if you have skin imperfections.
-
HAIR Be careful of changes right before your session. Bleached hair does not look as good in photographs. Natural hair styles are best!
-
SWEAT We will keep the room as cool as we can, but please come as dry as you can. Tuxedo shirts and coats will be shared, so keep your fellow seniors in mind.
